Do you ever feel like you are standing on shifting sands? Or perhaps feel like you’re caught in a riptide in the middle of the ocean and you can’t swim back to shore? When this happens, it might feel like we are drowning and everything is out of control. We can’t breathe, we’re overwhelmed and panicky, thinking clearly feels like an impossibility and we are overcome by our fears, worries and emotions. Before we know it, we find ourselves feeling depressed, anxious, and dysregulated. Navigating the waves of life can be hard. But you don’t have to go through it alone. My name is Maria Andrea S. Tirazona, or Ria for short, and I am here to co-create nourishing spaces for older adolescents and adults as they find their way back to solid ground and discover their personal pathway to well-being. I also support schools, organizations, and institutions cultivate wellbeing within their community and for their stakeholders. I believe that wellness begins with awareness and is nurtured by kindness, curiosity and compassion. My approach to psychotherapy is compassion focused, client-centered, mindfulness based and is trauma and feedback informed. In our work together, we will integrate conversation, psychoeducation, somatic or movement-based practices, breath awareness, nervous system regulation and creative expression to empower to you to move through the waves of life with ease and grace.
