Dr. Maria Caridad “Caring” H. Tarroja, is a Registered Psychologist, and a PAP-certified Assessment and Clinical Psychologist. She is also a Full Professor of the Department of Psychology at De La Salle University. As a professional, Dr. Tarroja tries to strike a balance between being a practitioner, professor, and researcher. As a practitioner, she is considered one of the experts in psychological assessment. As a psychotherapist, she primarily uses a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) approach combined with reality therapy, humanistic and psychodynamic approaches in working with different clients, including couples. She has held several leadership positions in different organizations, including being a past president of the ASEAN Regional Union of Psychological Societies (ARUPS), and a past president of the Psychological Association of the Philippines. Currently, she is a Board Member of the Philippine Association of Child and Play Therapy (Philplay), and one of the Psychologists of the Child Placement Committee of the National Authority for Child Care (NACC). She is a recipient of national awards in Psychology. In 2016, the Psychological Association of the Philippines named her as Outstanding Psychologist of the Philippines for her contributions in Psychology as a practitioner, researcher, and leader in different organizations. In 2023, the Professional Regulation Commission named her as the Outstanding Professional of the Year Awardee in the field of Psychology.
