Seminars and Workshops

Our recent workshops include:

Psychological Assessment Series
This program consists of five three-hour talks for students, psychometricians, psychologists, and anyone involved in doing psychological assessments.  The series begins with introducing the framework of evidence-based psychological assessment, the rational and logical approach to psychological screening and fundamental good practices, and proceeds to tackling specific referral contexts of psychological screening, namely, adoption, children and adolescents with intellectual and learning disabilities, and emotional and behavioral challenges.
Psychological Screening Reports: Writing for Accuracy, Clarity, and Usefulness
Through a combination of lectures, critical discussion, and hands-on practice, this workshop aims to help participants develop basic skills on how to integrate psychological assessment results and put them together in a written report.  The workshop highlights the importance of writing a psychological evaluation report that is clear, relevant for different referral questions, and useful to various stakeholders.  The workshop also includes discussions and critical analysis of the various challenges and issues, including ethical issues, in writing psychological reports and in giving written and oral feedback.
What do these scores man? Understanding and Interpreting Group Administered Tests
This 2-day workshop aims to help participants have a deeper understanding of some exemplar norm-referenced paper-and-pencil intelligence and personality tests.  After understanding what each of the scales measure, the participants are engaged in discussions on interpreting a test protocol.  They are then led to follow basic principles in writing reports regarding impressions derived from these test results.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Introductory Seminar
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment model and systematic approach to dealing with children's and adolescents' psychological trauma.  The interactive lecture includes information on identifying appropriate candidates for TF-CBT, a description of its core components, and illustrations of its use through a case presentation and video demonstrations.
Managing Anxiety Series
This four-part webinar series aims to provide insights into the psychological and physiological foundations of anxiety and fear.  It also aims to illustrate various therapeutic interventions to manage anxiety including the following: behavioral and cognitive strategies, body and breath based practices for nervous system regulation, and expressive/arts-based techniques.
