Dr. Tarroja has been a board member of the Psychological Association of the Philippines since 2007 and was its past President from 2010-2012. She is also a full-time Associate Professor of the Psychology Department at De La Salle University, and previously served as its Chair and Vice-Chair. She also took the helm at PsychConsult as Clinical Director from June 2006 to May 2010. She speaks English and Filipino.

Passionate about teaching and doing psychological assessment, Caring has been engaged in assessment in the last 18 years in the clinical, industrial, and psychoeducational areas. Her research interests include the impact of pre-adoption risks and family functioning on the behaviors of adopted children, families of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), supervision, and clinical assessment. She has presented papers both in local and international conferences. She serves as Chair of the Philippine Social Science Council from 2014 to 2016.
