Certified Clinical Psychologist*

Prior to practicing as a psychologist, Lala taught in the preschool setting, laying out the foundation for her belief in empowering parents to be the main change agents in their children’s lives. This continues to be reflected in her current clinical practice, as she works with parents and schools to help children with behavioral and emotional problems. In recent years, her work has also begun to extend to doing individual therapy with adults presenting with depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.
Apart from doing therapy and psychological assessment, her work as a psychologist also entails program development; along with colleagues, she put together the parent-child interactive play program at PsychConsult. Aside from Filial Therapy, her other research interests include issues on learning disabilities as encountered by Filipino clinicians, and understanding risk and protective factors in children diagnosed with selective mutism. Lala has presented papers, co-facilitated workshops, and has been invited as a speaker on child and adolescent issues.
