Therapeutic Interventions

We offer individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults who may be undergoing various life crises, difficulties, and transitions, using a combination of theoretical frameworks (cognitive, behavioral, client-centered, humanistic psychological theories). For children, we conduct play therapy to help them play out their difficulties, overwhelming experiences or feelings through play, in a safe and affirming environment. When needed, we teach parents the skills needed to manage their children’s behaviors through parent-child interactive play sessions.

We also conduct group therapy sessions, developed to address needs of a homogenous group of clients (e.g., group play therapy, trauma therapy and support group sessions). In group play therapy, several children, usually of the same age, are inside the play therapy room with their respective psychologists. There are common goals to be addressed when we bring a homogenous group together. A social skills workshop is also conducted for children and adolescents with social skills deficits.

For adults in a group, it allows our clients to share experiences, realize the universality of certain shared experiences, and find resolution and support in a safe atmosphere provided by our psychologists.

With the overall goal of improving relationships, we assist couples and married partners discuss differences, and develop better communication skills through couples and marital therapy. We conduct family therapy sessions to strengthen familial bonds, usually in conjunction with seeing particular clients for individual therapy.

We meet with family members, parents, teachers and allied professionals parent/family and team conferences to consolidate our understanding of clients referred to us, their emerging concerns, and goals to be met.
